These beautiful nativity boxes are known as Retablos which translates as Altarpiece.
Each Retablo measures 6 cm wide with doors closed to 12 cm with doors fully open by 7.5 cm high and 3.5 cm deep approx.
The figures are beautifully crafted and are made of a mix of plaster, cooked potato and newspaper and then painted in wonderful vivid colours and lacquered to finish.
They look great as a table decoration or on the mantelpiece.
